Deeper Insights are a full-stack AI consultancy with a focus on business intelligence and analytics.
Our data experts and our cutting edge Skim Engine platform enable clients to utilise data from unstructured and external sources. It’s our mission to empower business leaders to do more with data and we design and build custom AI solutions that enable that. Such as automated back-office processes, augmented analytics, predictive analytics, and alternative dataset creation.

We work with a range of clients from Healthcare to Financial Services both scale-up and enterprise. We also offer our time on pro-bono projects that support the 3rd sector. We're an award-winning practice, recognised for both our consulting services and the work we've done in the 3rd sector.

We are a distributed team across UK and Portugal and practice a Remote First way of working, supported by strong agile and X-teams methodologies.

JOB ROLE
As a Junior Data Scientist you will be working alongside a Senior Data Scientist on using data creatively to develop high-quality and high-impact solutions for our clients. These solutions will likely revolve around NLP and Computer Vision, although any type of data science technique may be required to successfully deliver a solution.

The ideal candidate will be able to take charge of all aspects of a project with minimal supervision, from requirements analysis, data collection and labelling, data wrangling and preprocessing, model development and evaluation, model deployment and model monitoring.

REQUIREMENTS
Ideally, you are a proactive problem-solver, with a strong outlook on problems, hands-on experience with end-to-end Data Science, good coding skills, and able to thrive on a dynamic environment.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Entry-level, no commercial experience required
• Minimum Bachelor's degree on a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics) - since we embrace diversity we will be open-minded with respect to your background
• Programming skills in Python
• Relevant hands-on experience with Data Science, with a focus on Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyse issues, identify causes, recommend solutions quickly, and structure and prioritise an approach for maximum impact. We focus on delivering value to clients rather than micro-optimising models.
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, uncertainty and working on a dynamic environment, where priorities change frequently and objectives may not be well defined
• Autonomous and adaptable
• Lifelong learner mentality, a drive to master new technologies and techniques, and willingness to work outside your comfort zone
• Non-conformism, i.e., someone driven to find non-obvious solutions to tricky business problems

Bonus Points:

• Familiarity with NLP and/or Computer Vision techniques
• Familiarity with deep learning and corresponding Python libraries (e.g., Keras, Pytorch, transformers)
• Ability to write clean, well-tested and well-documented code
• Familiarity with best software engineering practices such as testing, version control, continuous integration/ delivery
• Past experience in consulting or industry experience
